Hip Hop music star rapper, Eminem, takes to his Twitter page out of excitement to excite his fans. He composed a tweet that contains what appears to be his personal digits, asking to text him. The tweet appears like an actual letter, pleading with “Stan” to reach him on 313 666 7440. In the tweet, he directs the attention of readers to his bio which contains a website link hat lands “tweeps” on a page bearing his personal contact. Also on the page is a bubble where they can leave him countless messages, with a hope that he replies. Again, he added another link which directs his fans to a portal that generates contacts for them to connect with their favorite artiste. Since these series of posts, he has awakened the interest of his colossal fan base, members of which must have been stressed out by the ongoing situation on the global scene.
The tweet however is inspired by his hit song, “Stan” which he released in 2000, featuring the sensational Dido. Apparently, Eminem had teased his fans earlier with a tweet revealing that he cared less now. Explicitly, the twitter post reads “I used to give a fu*k/ now could give a fu*k less”. In another post, he directs them to the link in his “bio”, noting that Stan’s listening party holds soon, and he asks the fans to “hit the site” for further details on the listening party.
Notably, his post has sparked up different feelings among his fans, some feeling excited, while some felt disappointed. Some fans who took the post seriously and moved to dial the phone number expressed their dissatisfaction as they see it as a mere marketing “stunt”. Surprisingly, some found it exciting, claiming it helped revive the good memories of Eminem’s early days in the music industry. Unfortunately, a host of others did not get access at all — they were restricted by some geographical internet protocols. Some took to the social media to relish on their memories of the song, while others expressed their hurt feelings, subtly asking the star rapper to fix the situation.
It is worthy to note that the Marshall Mathers LP single, “Stan” still tops the board at random times since it dropped in year 2000. The song is said to have a notable place in the history of Hip-hop as it became a global anthem the minute it rocked the air waves. In fact, the single made waves to the extent it is believed that Dido’s musical career got a lift from it. His move on social media reunites him with his fans, reminding them of his substance and relevance in the hip-hop industry. Also, it is to prepare his “Stans” for the anniversary of his third studio album, “The Marshall Mathers LP”.
Noteworthy, “The Marshall Mathers LP” earned the Detroit rapper a Grammy Award for being the best Hip-Hop album of the year at that time. While “Stans” around the world have their passions fueled with a “reunion”, the Marshall Mothers LP album can only be expected to shake the Hip-hop world to its roots again. The listening party streams on Spotify tomorrow, 27th May 2020 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the successful album which originally dropped on May 23, 2000.
